14 lines, rhymed iambic pentameter to qualify. Various rhyme schemes are allowable, and hexameter ( alexandrines) have been permitted in the past.


Sonnet 13/07/06                                  MLXIII

Does love for muse require that one weep
When moon recalls past dreams, or stars remind
About her eyes? Can true desire sleep,
When night gives dream the power to heart bind?
She gives no sign she wants what I might send,
Nor does she share her dreams, to feed my own.
Yet, even silence cannot longings end
When I think of past inspiration shown.
Should I admit concern, or think to hide
That she still matters to my heart? I know
I should not hope nor dream to her confide,
But thoughts of her always my caring show.
It does not matter what I say, or feel:
Without her, how can any hope be real?
