I'm not on my way to the UK anytime soon, but I'd like to ask much the same question about the US. Does anybody know of a directory of folk clubs here, particularly of the kind described by Baz. The local folk music venue, Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, has an open mike night one or two tuesdays a month, but that's the closest there is, as far as I can tell. Thirty years ago or so, F and S was more like Baz's type of pub and there used to be a couple of others in the East Bay, the Blind Lemon for one. Rather than ask for people to list their favorite small folk clubs on this thread, I'm about to start a thread "Small folkmusic clubs in the US." --seed
