I do like all the tartans. Mine is a very nice dark green and black affair. But the tartan thing can go too far. Not a reason to leave, but a bit irritating, for example Balmoral; tartan curtains, sofas, wallpaper, carpets, cushions etc etc ad nausea. My Scots friends up there used to moan that we English stereotype them as tartan-kilt-wearing funny-speaking bagpipe-playing haggis-eating people, but they ARE like that. They brandish their Scottishness at visitors like anything.
