As a general comment on the spite and nastiness that has become a part of the Internet, Facebook, forums etc. It would be so simple if people could merely ignore what is written. I'm thinking especially of vulnerable young women who take nasty remarks so much to heart, and in some tragic cases commit suicide or self-harm as a result. But ignoring can't be so easy if the remarks concern members of ones family, ones appearance, attacks on ones character etc. These things sting and hurt, like 'poison pen letters' of times past. As an oldie, I'm amazed at the power of the little electronic screen. If only vulnerable people could just switch it off, and turn to the real world, form real friendships and get involved in a real life, as we used to do fifty years ago. It's very sad.
