There is a story that may be true or may be an urban legend, but I sometimes tell it when my instruments (or one of my bandmates) needs tuning:

It seems when Herb Ellis was playing in Glen Gray's Casa Loma Orchestra, the leader said to him, "Why are you always tuning between songs? It's annoying. I went to see Segovia last week and he didn't spend any time tuning."
Ellis said, "Well, some cats just don't CARE."
