     I'll take the head, says Rabbin to Bobbin;
     Hoist! hoi,st! says Richard to Robin,
     Hoist! hoist! etc.

     I'll take a wing, says Rabbin to Bobbin,
     Hoist! hoist! says Richard to Robin. .
     Hoist ! hoist ! etc.

Said to have come from Anglo-Saxon times. From
Devonshire. Villagerss wouldsuspend the wren from a heavy pole.
It would be carried on their shoulders like a great burden.
The monstrous bird was hoisted into a waggon
as this song was sung.  Hoist! hoist!
was sung with labour and exertion.
