Thread Name: Manchester's 'Sing for Ethiopia' weekend
Subject: Manchester's 'Sing for Ethiopia' 1985
In 1985 I had the good fortune to be part of the organising committee for Manchester's 'Sing for Ethiopia' weekend alongside Bram Taylor, Les and Andy Swarbrick, Helen and Dave Howard and the rest of the Black Lion residents. Over the weekend local Folk Clubs were given up to an hour to showcase the talents of their residents, floor singers and guests, whilst any singers dropping in such as Peter Bond, Pete Morton and Clive Gregson and Christine Collister were given 'floor spots' and the whole weekend was capped by a concert compared by the late great Dave Shannon and including Hobson and Lees, Heather Whittaker, Jolly Jack and Chris and Joe While. Fortunately, as well as my guitar, I took my camera and the results can be seen here:

All this took place a month before 'Live Aid', for which Sir Bob was knighted, as far as I'm aware Bram's still waiting for his!

Any assistance in identifying those Folk Clubs / Performers that I've forgotten with the passage of time would be appreciated!
