My Cuban mother sang "Cuando abro la puerto de mi Palomar...." to us in the 60s. My grandmother sang it to my mother and her siblings when they were growing up in Eastern Cuba in the 40s. They sang it at a slow and sweet tempo, very much a lullaby.
