I was talking with Craig Edwards yesterday and mentioned to him that one of the highlights of the Fisherpoets Gathering is the Sat night poetry contest. A line is given out and participants come up with an 8 line poem using that line or phrase. It is a fierce competition with a lot of entries (no prize, but bragging rights). How about a new chantey contest at SMF. No parodies, but something fresh and new, either referencing historical or contemporary work, I will disqualify myself (maybe ) having already written a yachting chantey.....who's got the line?
