Peter and Mousethief, my recollection was that "I'm Down" was the B side to "Help". However, there have been many years and lots of... experiences since then, so I could be wrong.

Matt, I'm with you -- I really liked "Old Brown Shoe". And LEJ, I was also going to mention "She Loves You/I'll Get You" -- I'm sure the Beatles considered the latter a throwaway, but the tune was infectious.

I think Creedence Clearwater also had some good combinations, although I'm not sure I can remember them specifically (was "Down On The Corner" backed by "Fortunate Son"? "Green River" backed by "Lodi"? the memory fades). I think it was their strategy to release singles that contained two strong songs, in the hopes that one would make the charts.
