We sang this in the 2000's at my Girl Scout camp in Vermont. When I started in 2001, we want the third verse as "and the rivers ran uphill ole.../ and the fish began to fly ole.../ and the day before I died ole.../ I became a blushing bride ole..." Some of the girls would substitute virgin in for blushing and I think some used pigs instead of fish. But anyways by the time i left camp, they no longer used the third verse at all because of the suicidal nature of the last two lines
