Hmm! Loads of similar versions above, but none of them with one of the verses that I'm familiar with:
Charlie found some malt one day, reclining in a tub.
He poured in hops and water, murmuring "Loverly grub!"
He stirred it with a garden spade and said "What have we here?"
He took a swig, danced a jig, and said "I'll call it beer".
