tommy has reached age 15 today. when he came into our care about 11 yr ago we were preparing ourselves to lose him before his teenage years, being told that most myotonic dystrophy children don't survive.
we have certainly had some near misses but is still doing surprisingly well.
his cast came off yesterday for x ray and the doctor thought it was healing nicely. had tommy not been special needs, he would have just been told to be careful and not overdo weightbearing, but for safeties sake another cast was applied ,to be worn anther 4 weeks.
but he did go back to school today and seems to have been ok.
