Leeneia, in the words of Sir Walter Scott:

"Now haud your tongue, my daughter dear
For a' this breeds but sorrow;
I'll wed ye to a better lord,
Than him ye lost on Yarrow."-

"O haud your tongue, my father dear:
Ye mind me but of sorrow;
A fairer rose did never bloom
Than now lies cropp'd on Yarrow."

The verse you think weak (and it is) was from Jean Redpath, according to the note in the DT Lyrics. There are many folk versions of this composed song.

No version can match "The Dowie Dens of Yarrow," as written by Sir walter Scott in his Border Minstrelsy.
