Thanks for making the blue clicky, Ross. Lisa, a very good article, and I loved learning so much more about your own experiences with the music interwoven with your own life. What really strikes me, as I read through it, and I will read through several times again, I'm sure - is the tension - the dialectic - I personally experience regarding folk music as performance/history/preservation/(you get my drift) vs the role or function of music in the lives of people that is not about being musician, a performer, a folklorist, an historian, etc. Has made my brain hurt for many years, trying to sort out my own thoughts and emotions about such things.

I didn't get to hear this entire broadcast, but what I did hear touches on my own thoughts, internal conflicts, and awareness of the dialectics involved. Don Pedi interview on the State of Things
