More information from this 2003 memorial service notice:
"Carole was a Professor of English at Brooklyn College, City University
of New York, and was the author of the two volume "British Broadside
Ballads of the 16th Century." In addition to being a scholar, Carole was
also a fine singer, poet, and songwriter who performed many times at the
Peoples' Voice Cafe, as well as at the now defunct Fast Folk Cafe, both
in New York. She was also a long time member of the New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club and the Peoples Music Network, as well as several feminist, Jewish, and human rights organizations.

Carole suffered a stroke early in 2002 from which she never recovered,
and had been confined to hospitals and nursing homes from then until her
death on July 14, 2003, at the age of 63." http://www.mombu.com/music/folk/t-carole-rose-livingston-memorial-service-1617513.html
