For Thomas Stern: I found the following, referring to the two volume set. I have not yet found any copies of volume 2:

"Booknews
The first catalogue of all extant British broadside ballads of the 16th century. English and Scottish ballads are treated separately; within each division the extant sheets are arranged chronologically. The entry for each sheet provides the date, full title, first two lines, refrain, and tune title; author's name and publisher's imprint listings in the Stationers' registers and in Hyder Edward Rollins' Analytical index to the Registers' ballad entries; Short-title catalogue number; location, collection, and shelf-mark; duplicates and other printed and manuscript editions; other catalogue entries and other scholarship; and other information. A long essay discusses the provenance and proofreading of the works, their popularity and audience, and treachery and treason in them. Volume 2 will be an edition of the texts. Annotation c.
