Subject: How do you use text to midi converter
Hi, Catwoman- well, the easy solution is to go to Mudcat MIDIs (click) - always available on your "Quick Links" menu. Most of the songs posted in MIDITEXT have been posted at the Mudcat MIDI page. But here's how:
Put txt2mid.exe in its own folder (directory) on your hard drive.
Then, put your mouse cursor on the white space within that folder and click on the right mouse button - go down to "new" on the menu that appears and select "text document."
Name that document something memorable, like "savetext.txt."
Highlight and copy the red tune text from the Mudcat Forum (use your right mouse button or [CTRL-C] to copy).
Paste that text into the savetext document (use right mouse button or [CTRL-V] to paste).
Save the savetext document.
Drag the savetext document onto the icon for txt2mid.exe, and the program will create a MIDI.
Next time you do it, make sure you highlight the old text in the savetext document, and paste right over it and then save it. I have this worked out so I can convert a file in about ten seconds. It's a good exercise in using DOS in Windows, which is becoming a lost art. I'm afraid many people have stopped using our downloadable version of the Digital Tradition database, because they don't do DOS. Let us know if you master this. We'll be very proud of you. -Joe Offer-
