... You may have heard the third line of the third stanza as "...N needles to ease all my troubles away...." but I can guarantee that it was: "N' diesels to ease all my troubles away" ...!

I spent some time dodging various incarnations of 'diesels' - from 10 ton trucks to tortuous Tournapulls conveying rocks, concrete and various mortar across Tasmanian and Snowy Mts Hydro dams during the 1960s ... and anybody whose reaction to the heavy working involved "needles" needed a good explanation to stay in the "big construction game"!
