Darwin knew nothing of mutations, I presume , so that being the added ingredient, added subsequent to darwins idea.ie , I presume mutations as the agent of change was not on his radar.
While Darwin did not say "mutations", he spoke at many points of "changes" being inherited and "selected for". So, while he did not put forth that word, what is a mutation but an inheritable change?
