I am so sad to hear the news. I've had to let the tears dry before attempting this. Our Rector has often talked about people he has attended having a "good death". Patrick's was such, peacefully, in the proper place: in the arms of his mum and dad with God so close. I will continue to pray for all of you.

I saw an epitaph recently, that of young girl actually, but the words seem somehow right:

"Budded on earth to bloom in heaven".

The candle was lit in church on Sunday, and I spoke to the presiding minister about Patrick. I will let him know what has happened: he is the Anglican chaplain of a big local hospital, and will understand what has been happening.
