Leeneia, braces are non invasive. Nothing wrong in proper clinical trials for them but no legal compunction either.

Anybody interested in the good, bad and ugly of clinical trials, google Dr Ben Goldacre, and better still, buy his excellent "Bad Science" book. Amongst other things, it gives credence to folk cures in that believing in the merit of a potion guarantees 20% of the population will benefit from it. (Placebo effect.)
