Awaterbury, Joe, Barbara--I tried to submit a message twice this afternoon, but I guess the threads server was having problems.I learned this song in church groups when i was a teenager with at least two of the three verses Barbara gave, to a tune very much like the chorus of "Take Back Your Gold." the last line of the second verse, as I learned it, was halfway between the two versions: "I would look up, and laugh, and love, and live." The third verse sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't think we usually sang it.
Joe, the words fit Londonderry Air(e)* beautifully (if you have all three ands in the aforementioned line.

*London Derierre? I'll bet Art Thieme could put that to use.
