Subject: RE: Singing at Whitby 2014
Since first replying to Fred McCormicks post about the singing in the Rifle Club, I have had some further thoughts.Ever since mo and I started to run the singarounds we have tried to make it all-inclusive,friendly,non-judgemental and non-selective. we have for instance always encouraged families with children. When we have said anything goes we have meant it. We do get as well as singinging poetry stories and some strange instuments (and even some stranger people) Many people have sung or performed for the very fist time but have gone on to be fine performers. Folk come to Whitby Folk Week to see and to hear fine performances of Music and dance of which there are plenty, others to take part and to learn, some do both. I think that this is the ethos of Whitby Folk Week and I would like to think that Mo and I play our part.
So if you come to The Marathon Singaround you will not find wall to wall perfection you will hear some damn good singing, warmth friendliness and a bit of fun.
Oh and by the way come early 8 oclock start.
Best Wishes Joe Nicholson
