I rang Whitby Tourist Office today to buy a weekly parking ticket for Folk Festival Week which is in ten days time and they said they were unable to send me one in time! I have previously had no problem and have purchased a weekly permit for about £25 and parked opposite the Endeavour without much trouble but you do have to sit and wait for an available space but never waited more than ten minutes.
Prices are now £6 per day (no weekly permit) so I guess I will have to keep going backwards and forward to the car each day to put another ticket on the car! As we are staying in a holiday cottage just of the pedestrian precinct shouldn't be too much trouble but the other system seemed easier.
I appreciate it must be really difficult for the residents in a seaside town that sees an influx of tourists (I live in Sidmouth so should know!) but there are surely ways to make it easier for the holiday maker who after all put a lot of money in to the local economy. There ...... rant over, it certainly won't spoil my enjoyment of the week!
