Thread Name: Parking at Whitby
Subject: RE: Parking at Whitby
The P & R is irrelevant as it is of no use to anyone staying for more than a day.
There were certainly no concessions for Bus Passes when the service started but that could well have been the drivers not being given the necessary information / training. I have come across problems with the York P & R and that has been running for a number of years now.
Arriva are certainly NOT one of the best bus operators.
I assume Tootler only makes the odd day visit so yet again any observations made are irrelevant to anyone actually visiting for more than a day.
Whitby, in common with most tourist destinations, is costly. I don't know how the locals can afford to live there.
That said I have just returned from a week at Sidmouth where everything is very expensive and no - you don't get what you pay through the nose for.
I noticed a large central disused property so if Wetherspoons can be persuaded to take it on then perhaps the other businesses would be encouraged not to rip off (take the piss out of) the Folk Festival and its attendees.
