The VW librarian Malcolm Taylor once told me a story about watching the Kipper Family perform at a Festival. Mike Yates was in the audience, as was another well-known collector/folklorist (I'm not going to name him). Apparently this other collector appeared to be totally confused. He had a serious look on his face and, obviously, just did not get the joke. On the other hand, Mike was almost falling off his chair with laughter. I suppose that some people get these things and some don't.
