Thread Name: Lyr Req: You and I (Ewan MacColl)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: You and I (Ewan MacColl)
I am not sure how interested people are after another seven years, but I was also keen to track down this song. I have bought Peggy Seegar's version (from "Hot Blast") as an mp3, but I am astonished how few covers there are of this. In addition to ones mentioned on this thread, I can find a cover by Bob Moss on the album "Folknik", with vocals by Flannery Hauck. Ewan MacColl wrote "The First Time Ever I saw your Face", which has a whole Wikipedia screenful of covers, Grammys and all sorts, so we know he wrote sensitive love songs. Why so few covers of "You and I"? Maybe its because there are other, lesser, songs with the same name. Maybe its because it is too close to the bone, it is written for a couple, who have had many years together, who are maybe approaching the ends of their lives, but still very much in love.
