Thread Name: Lyr Req: The Drover's Boy (Ted Egan)
Subject: 'The Drover's Boy' PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!
I saw Nacy Kerr and James Fagin in concert a few weeks ago, and they did a really gorgeous song tht they haven't yet recorded. I REALLY like it - it's called 'The Drover's Boy'. It's quite contemporary and I think that a film is being made or recently has been made based on the song. As far as I can remember, it was about native Australian women who were kidnapped and forced to dress themselves up as boys to work alongside and be the lovers of the white British drovers. I think a bit went: 'Nobody knew why the drover and the boy camped so far away For the tall white man and the slim black boy had never had much to say'

and it could well have started with: 'Nobody knew why the drover cried...'

If anybody has any information on this song, please help. I love it. Thanks! Ruthie :o)
