This time of year the ants have been trying to move in. I had a piece of bread leftover from lunch I dropped into the bowl on the corner of the counter that this morning was ant central. A few puffs from the can of diatomaceous earth took care of them, plus a few quick swipes with a damp sponge to wipe out legions on the march.

It's hot day in a predicted sequence of 100^o+ days so most plants have shut down. Since I water a few areas I do have to mow a little, but I'll leave it for evening and instead putter in the garage and greenhouse. And pick up around the house. My daughter's birthday is next Saturday, and mine follows a week later, so we try to get together to celebrate. If the house is looking good we might have a few folks in. The only official thing I had to do re: this birthday was to renew my driver's license, and I did that yesterday.
