Dorothy, re: the writers' group, is it your hearing, or the room acoustics, or the level of conversation that is the problem? I loved going to a group for years, until I got too busy (being a writer). And too too bad about that lovely floor. It sounds like those beetles are going to bring the house down.

Just back at my desk after another going away reception for a departing librarian. They're going at the rate of about 2 a month. The university powers that be must have noticed something is terribly wrong here, but the first step to fixing it is getting rid of the dean who dismantled our wonderful institution.
