I paid $15 once for a Sears Silvertone electric in the early 1970's. It sounded like a car horn and I loved it. Current "cheapest" guitar in my home is a Gibson LG-O circa 1964 that I paid $400 for a couple of years ago. It sounds great for old-time stringband music and plays better.
