It is indeed useful; Bruce Olson and I have been going on about it here for so long that it almost comes as a surprise to find people who don't know about it.  Earlier in the year the site changed a bit and the URL that used to point to the page Liland links to (and which I generally cite when posting links to broadsides) was changed to point to another, which if I recall correctly involved an agreement to do with copyright and so on: possibly some of my early links to the site in threads here may now point to that.  The password thing at university sites is usually there for copyright reasons: some material is made available for registered students etc. which cannot be made available to the general public for legal reasons -it's not to do with being unwelcoming.
