The last couplet of verse two of Sweet Violets 2 seems particularly unconvincing -- possibly a nonce-supplied substitute for a forgotten original, by echoing the end of verse three. But what do I know? I only ever knew the first verse, which we sang gleefully from about third grade on. Found there was more, and was glad to get it, but I remain skeptical that the second verse ends like that. I don't even get the intended rhyme: beef? grief? How dense am I?
