FWIW, I hear more and more the U.S. pronunciation 'Lootenant' here, very likely due to the influence of the U.S. TV programmes (note correct spelling, Bill! :-) ) and films (or 'movies' as ex-colonials quaintly refer to them) with which we're bombarded.
