Cu Chullainn and Ferdia

After three days of duel, one on one battle,
at the ford of Dee, he carries him to the bank,
the bronze body is limp in war weary arms,
head hung back, slain eyes open,
one arm reaches for the water's surface,

smelted tears lurch down metallic cheeks,
for his best friend, for his enemy,
as they reach the bank. Soon he will fight
some more to defend his home,
but now, he weeps for the man he killed.
