Bearing in mind how many generations of E. coli passed down the decades, what we have is only ecoli in certain conditions via mutation, digesting something different, if I read it right. It started as bugs and , best I can see , is still bugs. You can call it evolution if you like, as long as you don't equate it with the general theory of evolution that claims what there is little, if any evidence for.
