One of my ancestors ran a chippie. I know this because I was brought up on the cod, chips and mushy peas from that very chippie, and that ancestor is my mum, who's still alive and kicking. As a matter of fact, when I was a well under-age lad to be legally employed, I spud-bashed for my mum three nights a week for seven and a tanner (half a crown a night innit).
