Subject: Lyr Add: SPANISH IS THE LOVING TONGUE (variant)
I love Ian Tyson's voice, and Four Strong Winds reminds me of "Spanish is The Loving Tongue". I sing my own variation from a woman's point of view, but last year when I sang it at a small circle in a coffee shop, an old folk singer from Wyoming asked, "Where did you learn that?" It turned out he knew the original songwriter.

original is in the database
Alice Flynn's version, "Spanish is the Lovin' Tongue"

Spanish is the loving tongue

Soft as music, light as spray;
There was a boy I learned it from
Living down Sonora way.
I don't look much like a lover,
Yet I say his love words over.
Mostly when I am alone
"Mi amor, mi corazon".

On the nights when he would ride
I would listen for his spurs,
Throw the big door open wide,
He'd raise those Latin eyes of his.
How those hours would get to flyin,
All too soon I'd hear him sighing,
In his sad and loving tone,
"Mi amor, mi corazon"

Well, I've not seen him since that night,
He can't cross the line, you know.
They want him for a gamblin fight,
Like as not it's better so.
Yet I've always sort of missed him,
Since that night that I last kissed him,
I lost my heart, and he left to roam,
"Adios, mi corazon."

Now, let's have an upbeat song.... anyone have a fast singalong?
