I am requesting information for the areas specifically around Winston-Salem, and the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I am well aware of some of the festivals around Ashville and Henderson, but I wish to take my grandson to any of the jams in the areas I mentioned.

I live in Shepherdstown, WV. the Cultural Hub of the Western Hemisphere, and Navel of the Universe, so I can go to a local jam literally any night of the week, centered around any form of music from Irish to Old Time, Bluegrass to Country. I go down to W-S and the OB during the summer months and around Christmas, and would like if possible, to introduce him to jam/session etiquette, and the concept of playing with others in an informal group setting.

I'd like to keep this to informational and not editorial material, so I'm looking for locations and times, with contact information if possible. My grandson is learning to play classical flute and guitar; I play banjo, guitar, autoharp, lute, and craviola, in any style from hombo to strathspey.

A session in Winston-Salem would be good for most of the year, while any sessions in the Outer Banks area would good for the summer.
