I love Gold Watch Blues (Particularly "and your piece of paper to say you left here sane...") Incidentaly I just checked in my "Catch the Wind" album and that one is credited to "Softley" (Huh???)Anyway, my favourite must be "Ballad of a Crystal Man". Me and my good friend, Mike D, were singing that outside a cafe in Chester when the management took us in to feed us (or get rid of us - we were never sure!) Apart from that the fact that the lyrics have always, to me, reflected the naivety of a lot of 60's protest songs.
None more so than "As you fill your glasses with the wine of murdered Negroes..." From a middle class white folk singer!!!! Come on! The guy was a genious!
