Thread Name: Tune Add: Miss Rowan Davies (Phil Cunningham)
Subject: RE: Tune Add: Miss Rowan Davies (Phil Cunningham)
If composers would establish a simple and reasonably-priced method for paying them for their works, many people would.

I would cheerfully pay Phil Cunningham $1 for the dots to 'Miss Rowan Davies.' However, he doesn't make it possible to do so.
(My band played it in my living room several times one day. Then we moved on to other music. We agreed it was beautiful. Thanks, Phil)

Last year I thought I might make a YouTube of 'Little Drummer Boy.'
(YouTube had pages of warnings about not using copyrighted material, but absolutely no info on how to be legit.) After half an hour's searching, all I learned was that I had to telephone a woman in London (from the U.S.) to get permission. I decided to forget it.

In contrast, bn Easter Sunday (last week) I decided I wanted to watch the old MGM movie 'Easter Parade.' I paid $2.99 through YouTube, put it on my credit card, and in five minutes I was watching it. That's what I call intelligent use of copyright.
