Back to an old thread, to remark that nobody has seen fit above to specify the origin of the tune to which these words are sung. Mr Aytoun & Sir T Martin* must surely have set their lyrics to an older tune. Sounds to me as if it might have been a pipe tune -- a reel?. Anyone have a title for it?
