I like this song and have been singing it for years, but would like to know something about where it came from. Does anyone know the composer? Is it PD? I've heard it performed by blues singers, country singers and bluegrass groups, but no one seems to know a source other than relatively recent singers like Randy Travis, Ry Cooder or Jimmy Bowskill.
