I have actually handled these btw as a sort of 3rd in the line helper. When we lived in N Wales, Pip/mum joined a bat group and got a few bats for temporary housing. Once in a while I'd help out and feed the meal worms, and in the case of the noctule bat (he was a permanent captive that never learned to fly - apparently they need to be taught and he was an orphan - but the other few were for rehab   and release), wax worms.
