Uncle Jaque, the pennywhistle is a great blues instrument. Lots of potential for sliding around the notes and into to flatted 5th and all that, and the basic blues scales fall fairly naturally under the fingers. I'm a terrible whistle player myself, but my wife and another good friend have both done some great blues playing.
