Reading the poem again reminds me of a kids picture book illustrating it. The picture of Mulga Bill "as white as chalk" hurtling down the rocky slope is one of the funniest pix I have ever seen. I could almost reproduce it right now, even though I haven't seen it for at least 10 years.

I just bought a bicycle a couple of months ago. Haven't ridden a bike for about 20 years so I am still in the hair-raising/Mulga Bill stage when I get it out on the road. Fighting for your rights in traffic is worse than speeding down a rocky slope, IMHO.
