When we disgruntled sailors in the Royal Navy were feeling particularly hard-done-by ( like when our daily rum (tot) ration was stopped ), we would sing, to a well-known American tune , this ;


I wish I was a Civvy,
I do ! I do !

I'd go along Trafalgar Square,

I'd see old Nelson standing there ;

"Get stuffed ! Get stuffed ! You one-eyed ,one-armed bastard ! "

(but we loved him really , of course ! )
