You are not discussing the same facts.
Dave's link discusses the population density of the UK, Keith's the population density of England.

I think we can agree that Scotland (with its highlands & islands) is less densly populated than England. This brings the figure for UK in at a lower density than for England alone.

Can we avoid and argument in which you may both be right in what you are stating, without the other, necessarily, being wrong?
