Subject: RE: Tune Req: Land of Odin/Oden
there was traffic back and forth between at least islands of scotland and norway. norwegians became scots kings. of course there were viking invaders of england. a lot of at least northern scots had norman ancestry which means norsemen back further. hawick seems to be a border town...there is no great reason they would not have heard of odin, if indeed the song is about odin and people do not agree about that from what i am reading. someone took the war cry Teribus ye teri odin if indeed that is it and wrote the song way after.

Anyway, more power to them. In my genealogy stuff one thing that truly shocks me is how many ancestors I have who were killed at Flodden..and this is not from searching..it is just from people putting that information next to the death date usually..or after 10 or so i got to recognize that date. it was both sides, english and scots. i would guess i have found 12 to 15 so far and until i took my dna test did not know i had one speck of scottish history..which actually barely shows in my dna but scandinavian does..
